Wishing you and your family a chag Hanukkah sameach, a very happy Hanukkah!
This Friday, Temple Israel is hosting its annual Hanukkah dinner at 6:00pm and I look forward to celebrating with many of you, eating, talking and enjoying one another’s company during this festival of lights. I am especially grateful to Beth Goodman for her tireless efforts in making sure this event is one that brings the spirit of Hanukkah to congregants and visitors of all ages!
When you arrive for our dinner on Friday, please remember to bring your Hanukkah menorah and some candles. Together we will place all the hanukkiyot on the table by the entrance, and join our Jewish friends around the world in reenacting the rededication of the great temple. Through our collective lights shining and reflecting in the glass, we showcase the warmth of our community and God’s unending presence.
We talk of Hanukkah miracles a great deal during this season, but let us not forget the power that we all have to renew creation and bring about a better world. As always, I am honored to be the rabbi of such a wonderful community, and my family and I truly look forward to celebrating with all of you Friday evening.
